Rockets Fly Over our Heads at Ashdod

Rocket Lands Right Near Home in Sderot Where we Were 40 Min Earlier

My family and I today visited American Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro at the embassy in Tel Aviv. It was a substantive conversation about the war between Israel and the terrorists of Hamas. I try and visit Dan whenever I am here, if he has the time. He is one of America’s most distinguished diplomats, a consummate gentleman, a phenomenal friend of Israel, and a true expert on the Middle East. Pictures of our visit are on Twitter.

Immediately after, we drove South for the second time on this visit to see the communities of Sderot and its environs. On the way we stopped in a gas station near Ashdod and had to immediately run to a bomb shelter when the sirens went off. I posted the pictures on Twitter. To our horror and regret, we later discovered that that rocket penetrated iron dome and hit a Synagogue in Ashdod. We are still trying to find out how many injured. Truly horrific.

From there we continued to Sderot. I stood on a hill overlooking Gaza. Yet again, we discovered that just 40 minutes after we left a rocket hit a home in Sderot in the neighborhood of where we were. I posted pictures of the neighborhood. That’s how close danger is to you when you’re in Israel, with murderous Hamas rockets raining down on Israeli citizens day and night.

Today 70 rockets were fired. Yesterday a near record 300 were fired by the Hamas terrorists.

We are in Jerusalem for the Sabbath. We pray for the peace of the residents of the Holy Land and the total destruction of the murderers of Hamas whose only goal is to murder as many Jewish civilians as possible.
